A PE teacher has shared the six rules she follows religiously for a healthy body and mind, and revealed why you don’t need fancy health foods or supplements to get your dream body.
Belinda Norton, 44, from the Gold Coast, has gained a name in the fitness industry for having a better body in her forties than she did in her twenties, and she now regularly shares health and fitness advice on Instagram.
Belinda’s ‘six body basics’ include walking in the morning light for 30 minutes daily and only eating mineral and nutrient-loaded foods.

1. Walk first thing
The first thing the PE teacher said she makes sure to do every single day is walk in the morning light every day for at least 30 minutes.
‘Breathe in the fresh air and take time to listen to the outdoor sounds and feel the ground beneath your feet,’ Belinda posted on Instagram.
‘Focus on the present, focus on the steps you take.’
By doing this, the 44-year-old said it becomes easy to shut out the excess noise and stresses of the world, instead merely focusing on your walk.
Belinda also finds that when she does her walk, it sets her up for a healthier and happier day.
Secondly, the teacher said even though it can be tempting to eat unhealthily sometimes, she makes sure she only eats mineral and nutrient-loaded food (one of Belinda’s meals pictured)
2. Eat nutrient-loaded food
Secondly, the teacher said even though it can be tempting to eat unhealthily sometimes, she makes sure she only eats mineral and nutrient-loaded food.
‘Raw, plant-based or naturally derived foods only,’ Belinda said. ‘Limit your sugars and avoid all processed food.’
The best way to do this is to make as many of your meals at home as possible.
‘Get creative and have a go in the kitchen,’ she said.
‘Try tasting and invigorating the digestive system.’
3. Drink filtered water
While it might not sound like a big deal, Belinda said only drinking filtered water makes a big difference to her overall health.
By adding a filter to your tap water you are able to eliminate chlorine, chemicals, bad taste, odours, dirt and even reduce the amount of metals in the water; while keeping the good minerals.
But not only does filtered water remove the harmful bacteria, but it also tastes fresher and cleaner.

4. Incorporate weights
While Belinda is a huge fan of cardio and walking, over the years she has learned that in order to get her dream body, she needs to incorporate some weights to see the best results.
‘Grab a set of 5kg hand weights and complete a full-body weights program three times weekly,’ the teacher said.
By doing this, you are most likely to see visible changes in your body.
5. Consume things consciously
When it comes to what you read and watch, Belinda said it’s good to think about what you’re consuming, and shut anything out that isn’t stimulating you.
‘Listen to positive intellectual conversation, seek knowledge from varying quality information portals, avoid commercial TV where possible, read books and spend time with people who are reflective of a genuine love of life,’ she said.
‘You choose what you consume – make it purposeful and joyous.’
Finally, Belinda (pictured) said picturing yourself laughing is never a bad thing, as it always helps to lift your spirits
6. Picture yourself laughing
Finally, Belinda said picturing yourself laughing is never a bad thing.
‘Avoid commenting on opinions,’ she said.
‘It will free your mind and soul. Do you and think of yourself smiling. Picture yourself laughing. It will lift your spirits.’
