Presenter Piers Morgan has decided to leave ITV’s Good Morning Britain, the UK television broadcaster says.
The morning show host stormed off the set of the news program on Tuesday following a heated discussion with his colleague Alex Beresford about the Prince Harry and his wife Meghan’s TV interview with Oprah Winfrey.
“Following discussions with ITV, Piers Morgan has decided now is the time to leave Good Morning Britain,” a statement from ITV said.
“ITV has accepted this decision and has nothing further to add.”
The UK media regulator launched a probe into Monday’s episode of the program after receiving complaints about comments made by Morgan.
The UK media regulator Ofcom said on Tuesday it was investigating comments Morgan made during the previous episode of the programme about Meghan’s discussion of her experience of having issues with her mental health.
The watchdog received more than 41,000 complaints about his remarks on Monday during Good Morning Britain.
His comments were criticised by the mental health charity Mind.
