In a bizarre and widely criticised incident caught on camera, a man swiped a signed hat by tennis star Kamil Majchrzak from a child. The man who snatched the hat has now been identified as Polish millionaire and CEO Piotr Szczerek who is facing massive backlash on social media.

In the video going viral online, Szczerek can be seen snatching a hat meant for a child signed by tennis player Kamil Majchrzak. The dramatic video quickly went viral, sparking outrage across social media and prompting a wave of criticism targeting the Polish millionaire.

Polish CEO sparks ‘sociopath’ debate?

After his five-set victory over ninth seed Karen Khachanov, Majchrzak was signing autographs when he gave away his hat to the child, which was immediately snatched by Szczerek. Piotr Szczerek, CEO of paving company Drogbruk, was seen placing the hat into his wife’s bag while the young fan protested. However, in a heartwarming twist, the young man at the centre of the entire incident not only received the hat but also got a chance to meet the tennis star.

“Obviously it was some kind of confusion,” the tennis pro told The New York Post, adding that Szczerek sponsors his tennis federation in Poland.

“I was pointing, giving the hat, but I had a lot going on after my match, after being super tired and super excited for the win. I just missed it. I had like a dead look if you know what I mean. I’m sure the guy was also acting in the moment of heat, in the moment of emotions.”Since Piotr Szczerek received massive backlash online for his act, he has since deactivated his social media accounts after the incident sparked widespread fury, Spanish outlet MARCA reported. Szczerek’s countrymen swiftly blasted him on a Polish job search site as a “sack of garbage,” “common thief,” “primitive scammer,” and “shameful jerk.”“Only an ordinary idiot and a jerk could snatch a hat from a child’s hands,” wrote one Gowork.pl user. “You can’t buy class,” offered another critic.

“If the company’s president so unscrupulously stole a child’s hat, if I were a customer, I would no longer use his services” chime in another. “I’d be afraid he’d steal from me too.”

The millionaire has since attempted to make amends with the cheated fan and his family, according to Majchrzak.

“He also wanted to make things right, so I gave him the credentials for Brock’s mom on the same social media I was using to contact her,” Majchrzak said. “So, maybe he can make things right himself.”

Piotr Szczerek came under fire after the incident and in response to it, he took to the Gowork forum to defend his actions, offering his side of the story following widespread criticism.

Dramatic hat-snatching video is viral

In the viral clip, the man seen in the video is now identified as Czczerek, the Polish CEO, who grabbed the hat right out of Majchrzak’s hand when it was clearly meant for the child rather than him. Following the moment, Brock, the child who had the hat stolen, could be seen pleading with Majchrzak, trying to get his attention to no avail.

After the incident was caught on camera, the clip quickly spread online, racking up tens of millions of views and going viral. But the incident had a heartwarming ending.

Tennis player Kamil Majchrzak personally met with the young boy whose hat, which was meant to be received at the US Open, had been snatched by a man. The touching gesture helped set things right and brought a positive close to the viral controversy.

Kamil Majchrzak praised for his act

After the viral video spread online, tennis player Kamil Majchrzak made it his mission to track down the young boy who was supposed to receive the hat. He eventually found him and personally delivered the gift, later posting the moment on social media with the comforting caption: “All good now!”

Majchrzak shared the touching encounter on his Instagram story, introducing the boy as Brock, the rightful recipient of the hat. The tennis star admitted he hadn’t realized the gift was taken until the video went viral, but once he learned, he wasted no time in making things right—ensuring Brock finally received the hat meant for him.

As soon as Majchrzak shared an Instagram story, it quickly grabbed attention and went viral.

One expressed an appreciation post saying, “I love that this had a happy ending. For the rest of us who are nosey like me. The other grown-up adult who stole his hat has been found by the ‘internet’ and doxxed. CEO of a Polish paving company. He has had to turn off all his social media comments, etc.” While another added, “He must be ashamed for it.” “Yup all good! Especially since he only did it because of public pressure but all good! He’s redeemed what a good person.”
