Depp did, however, announce he had been asked by Warner Bros to step down from his role of Gellert Grindelwald in the Fantastic Beasts franchise.
Fears surrounding Depp’s role in Pirates of the Caribbean have continued to rage on, but the star has now spoken out about his time in the series for the first time.
The actor was asked about Jack Sparrow while promoting his new film, Minamata, where he plays historic photographer W Eugene Smith while he was investigating the mercury poisoning of the citizens of Minamata, Japan.
The 57-year-old was questioned over whether he missed playing the cheeky pirate. He replied: “No, I don’t miss it.
“Because I have it every day, I always carry it with me. I travel with Captain Jack in my suitcase. I belong to Jack Sparrow and he is loyal to me.”
