UPDATE: Sony has confirmed that starting later this week, PlayStation Now subscribers will be able to play The Last of Us Part II, Fallout 76, Desperados III, Final Fantasy VIII Remastered, Victor Vran: Overkill Edition, Yet Another Zombie Defense HD, and Amnesia: Collection.
This lineup will be seen as a massive upgrade compared to usual months and appears to have upstaged the PS Plus October free games launching on October 5.
ORIGINAL: PlayStation Plus is the star of the show for most months, and October provides a unique lineup for PS4 and PS5 gamers to enjoy.
Hell Let Loose might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but having a brand new PS5 game to play helps in two ways; it provides something unique and next-gen, and it also means that PS4 gamers don’t miss out.
Meanwhile, PS4 gamers are getting to download and play PGA Tour 2K21 and Mortal Kombat X.
It’s not the strongest lineup of free games that have ever been released by Sony, but there’s no doubt it provides a spread of gaming genres to enjoy.
But October could be the month that PlayStation Plus is upstaged by PS Now, which isn’t something that happens often.
The PlayStation Now streaming service makes it possible to play first-party games and others via your internet connection and removes the requirement of hardware.
It’s limited in the fidelity it can offer, and it’s also held back by its lack of PS5 games in its library.
However, it has hundreds of cracking PS4 games to play and sees new ones added each month, much like PS Plus.
And a new rumour suggests that Sony will add The Last of Us Part 2 to PlayStation Now in October.
All leaks have to be taken with a pinch of salt, and the last one concerning the new PlayStation Now games arriving in October are no different. There have been plenty of times in past when Sony have accidentally added things to lists online, and this latest reveal might prove to be the same.
And with just a few days until the new PS Now games go live, fans of the subscription service are looking for any hints regarding what’s coming next.
The latest has been spotted by eagle-eyed fans in the UK, and appears to list The Last of Us Part 2 as coming to PlayStation Now. If this does happen, it would be another massive game being added to PS Now alongside titles like God of War and Detroit: Become Human.
It would also make it possible to play through the whole Last of Us story for the first time using the PlayStation Now streaming service. And it isn’t just Last of Us Part 2 being linked, with Desperados III and Fallout 76 reportedly launching this month too.
Neither game has sold more copies than Last of Us Part 2 but both would add some variety to what is already available on Sony’s streaming platform and would help replace the most recent PS4 games that have been removed.
This rumour could be quickly disproven by Sony when it announces its new PlayStation Now games later this week.
The reveal could happen later today, and would come just 24-hours before the new PS Plus free games becoming available to claim.
So fans can expect a big update in the coming hours when posts its last news on official social media channels.
