A COUNTRY couple keen on a 714sq m slice of city life will now call a hot pocket of East Geelong home.
Dinny Goonan and Meredith Fewkes outlasted three other bidders to secure the keys to an updated three-bedroom home on McKillop St, that’s set within East Geelong’s coveted Golden Triangle.
A keen crowd watched on as Eastwood Andrews auctioneer Andrew Crowhurst sold the property for $935,000, $135,000 over expectations.

The new owners will make the move into town from Bambra, and can stroll to Garden St, the Geelong Waterfront and CBD from their new address.
“We liked the space and the capacity to add onto it,” Meredith said.
The bidding opened at $700,000 and was initially slow to get going.
But once it got underway, it climbed in $20,000, then $10,000 and $5,000 bids before eventually hitting $935,000.
Eastwood Andrews agent Amanda Frick said the property’s reserve price was $800,000.
“Today was about people that have been looking for quite some time,” Ms Frick said.
“There weren’t a lot of Melbourne bidders down today, we had some interest but they couldn’t get here.”
The home, transported to the site in 1952, has recently been renovated.
It offers three bedrooms, the main with a walk-in wardrobe and ensuite, while the kitchen is light-filled and has new stainless-steel appliances.
Outside, the large backyard has rear lane access and a carport.
