The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are reportedly in the midst of a professional separation, as multiple reports have suggested that their work relationship is in “in a very bad taste”.
Meghan Markle’s statement on attending solo Thanksgiving event
Markle recently hosted an intimate dinner for the Southern California Welcome Project through the Sussexes’ Archewell Foundation. Meghan Markle was all smiles as she got stuck in but Harry was once again not there. Now, the mum-of-two has spoken out in a statement shared on their joint foundation website.
The former actress has since shared a statement on their Archewell website following the Thanksgiving event, in which she opened up about the “heartfelt dinner” she threw for Afghan women with their partner organization, Mina’s List.
“This initiative has spent the past year building community through storytelling and creating a safe space for women who have resettled in the US from Afghanistan,” the statement read. “The evening included a shared meal that encouraged open conversation centered on gratitude and resilience.”

The statement added: “The evening included a shared meal that encouraged open conversation centered on gratitude and resilience. The Duchess expressed her deep appreciation to the attendees for sharing their personal stories and cultural experiences, underscoring her excitement for future gatherings that continue to strengthen these connections.
“The dinner was hosted at Our Place, founded by Shiza Shahid, where the participants were gifted with new cookware for the upcoming holiday season. The Archewell Foundation remains committed to uplifting women and fostering community through shared experiences, reinforcing the importance of unity and support during challenging times.”
Meghan, Harry celebrations “pretty low-key”
The Duchess of Sussex, a known Thanksgiving enthusiast, revealed that her and Prince Harry’s celebrations are typically “pretty low-key”. She told Marie Claire magazine, “being close to my mom is great”, hinting that Doria Ragland will likely join the Sussexes for the holiday.

Markle also shared a memorable Thanksgiving anecdote about hosting feminist icon Gloria Steinem for Thanksgiving one year. She noted: “I was thinking about, in the past few years of having Thanksgiving here, like many of us, I think you always make sure there’s room at the table for your friends who don’t have family, which is really key.”
Prince Harry, who stepped back from royal duties in January 2020 and no longer uses HRH title, recently attended Invictus Games events in Vancouver, Canada. Harry and Meghan demonstrated solidarity earlier this month by jointly commemorating US and UK veterans on Veteran’s Day.
Meghan and Harry are scheduled to make public appearances at the Invictus Games in Canada in February 2025. The Duchess has hinted that their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, who are seldom seen in public, might also make an appearance.
There are rumors that Harry and Meghan are contemplating working independently of each other.
