Hi all, we’re thinking of buying a cottage that has mold in the attic. A housing inspection shows that there’s mold. The report recommended better ventilation and sealing but did not mention anything about the roof and whether that will have to be taken into account.
The buyer included an estimate for ~2.5k to have the mold sprayed or removed…but I’m worried that I shouldn’t trust the estimate since the buyer only got the estimate to reassure buyers and not scare them off from the mold. I’m just not sure as to why they didn’t remediate the issue themselves prior to selling if it truly is that much.
However, I’ve read a few posts saying that mold in the attic is quite common and fixable. I think my partner and I would be up for hiring a professional to add sealing and ventilation and potentially spraying the mold ourselves (I found instructions online and I have a relative who has restored a bunch of older homes and was a housing inspector and will likely help us figure it out).
I just wanted a second opinion based on the report and the pictures they posted. pictures
