Reality personality and right-wing commentator Katie Hopkins has been removed from Australia’s Big Brother VIP after breaching quarantine rules.
A petition has been created by Emma Powell, which urges Channel 7 to send Katie back to the UK and states that it “beggars belief that she even passed the character test to receive a visa.”
The petition reads, in part:
“If Katie Hopkins is so reluctant to follow the rules to keep our country safe, she shouldn’t be here. Big Brother & Channel 7: you must send her home.”

Katie Hopkins has been removed from the upcoming season of Australian Big Brother VIP after admitting to deliberately breaking COVID-19 rules.
In an Instagram Live video, Katie Hopkins reportedly said that she was deliberately breaking quarantine rules by taunting guards and opening the door of her hotel room without wearing a mask.
The Seven Network, which airs Big Brother, released a statement confirming that Katie would not be appearing on the show. They said:
“Seven and Endemol Shine strongly condemn her irresponsible and reckless comments in hotel quarantine.”
Alex Hawke, Australia’s immigration minister, confirmed that the matter would be investigated. He tweeted:
“With NSW & Victoria in lockdown, a reminder that temporary visa holders must obey public health orders. Australian Border Force is reviewing this matter. Where visa conditions are breached, individuals may face visa cancellation in accordance with the law.”
How to sign the Katie Hopkins petition
Following the news that Katie Hopkins had breached quarantine rules, a petition was created online labelled: “#SendHopkinsHome. Don’t let Katie Hopkins stay in Australia!”
At the time of writing it has gathered just under 30,000 signatures.
The description reads:
“By her own admission, British far-right commentator Katie Hopkins – banned from Twitter for hateful conduct and known for spreading COVID misinformation – has been flouting Australian hotel quarantine rules after being brought to Australia by Channel 7 for a season of Celebrity Big Brother.”
They continued on to write:
“By her actions, she is encouraging others to do the same, calling lockdown a “hoax”. Since the pandemic started, the majority of Australians have done what has been asked of them so we can live a COVID-free life.”
