Red Bull Star Sergio Perez has crashed out of the Belgian Grand Prix on the warm up-lap.
On a rain-soaked track at Spa-Francorchamps the Mexican driver ran his car over the curbs at turn six which sent him sliding into the barriers.
A crestfallen Perez left the wreckage of his Red Bull his race over before it even began.
Perez was supposed to start from seventh on the grid as he and teammate Max Verstappen, who starts on pole, were looking to cut into Mercedes’ lead in the constructors’ championship.
Red Bull boss Christian Horner said the pre-race wreck showed how treacherous conditions were in Belgium.
“Obviously very disappointed not to take the start It just goes to show how tricky conditions are,” Horner said.
“It’s on days like today I certainly wouldn’t want to be going in one of those cars.”
The race start was pushed back to at least 11:20pm AEST, 20 minutes later than the scheduled start time.
Daniel Ricciardo will start from fourth after qualifying on Saturday, his highest grid position since moving to McLaren.
Qualifying was stopped during the third session when Ricciardo’s teammate Lando Norris crashed on the fast Eau Rouge corner on his first flying lap.
Norris will start from 15th on the grid, after taking a grid penalty for changing his gearbox following the crash.
