I’m referring the below bullet. I’ve been dealing with a few issues with my landlord for over a YEAR. He promises to fix things month after month and the list keeps getting longer.

A year ago the bedroom ceiling started leaking. It leaked onto my bed and I ended up having to purchase a new bed (on my own dime). They fixed the leak, but there are still stains and a giant patch in the ceiling. Landlord promised he would come and repaint the whole room (one year ago)

They added a window in my bathroom by breaking the wall, but the person that did it not did not properly tile it or waterproof? It was just regular dry wall on the wall INSIDE the shower. It has been “rotting” and peeling for 6-8 months. He has sent me pics of tile that he will be using, but has not fixed it. It just keeps getting worst and I’m worried about mold.

2 days ago, I came home around 6pm and noticed a waterfall of water coming out of the outside wall outside my kitchen. Landlord happened to be there, but he didnt have a plumber come out until 11am the next day. By then the middle of my kitchen celing had bursted and all the shit in my kitchen got wet. I’m going to throw away all the food (I have alot of expesnive health supplements so I’m guessing its going to be a like 500-1000 loss ). There is currently a dehumider in my kitchen and I have not been able to use it.
Someone told me to call my rental insurance and someone else told me to withhold pay to my landlord. I’m not sure how to navigate this? I’m trying to be fair, but also not be a moron and get walked all over. Can someone help me and give me some advice? TIA!!! 🙂

Tenants have the right to withhold rentIf the unit is unlivable due to a serious issue or hazard, the tenant can refuse to pay rent until the necessary repairs are made. However, before deciding to withhold rent, as a good tenant, it’s always best to talk to the landlord first and give them enough time to fix the problem.
