The TV presenter, 65, was forced to quit the show after being taken to hospital as a precaution, following a bout of illness while in Grywych Castle.
He was attended to by the on-site medical team in the early hours of Thursday morning, who called an ambulance and he was admitted to hospital to be checked over.
However, Richard was unable to return to the castle after breaking the strict Covid protocols that are in place to prevent an outbreak of the virus on the set of the show.
“By leaving the camp, I had consequently broken the Covid ‘bubble’ and as such I’ve had to leave the castle and all the wonderful celebs that remain in the camp,” he said in a statement.
