Ronnie O’Sullivan has taken a swipe at Prime Minister Boris Johnson over alleged Christmas parties and has made a plea about rumoured lockdowns. The snooker legend defeated Neil Robertson in the final of the World Grand Prix in Coventry on Sunday but reserved advice for the PM.
A fresh allegation over a gathering emerged on Monday when a picture of Downing Street staff enjoying cheese and wine while the UK was under lockdown restrictions in May 2020.
No 10 have insisted that staff were having a business meeting but it follows several allegations over parties held within the last 18 months.
It comes amid rumours that the country could be placed under further measures after Christmas due to rising cases of the Omicron COVID-19 variant. The Mirror has reported that restrictions could come into place for a month from December 27.
But O’Sullivan has demanded that there are no more lockdowns and praised fans for still attending events.
“The fans have been amazing all week, even though there is Covid going on,” the six-time world champion said.

“It’s a bit like 10 Downing Street here tonight, rules have gone out the window. Mass spreading.
“We played in front of no crowds last year and it was horrible. First when the crowds came back it was a bit nerve-wracking, but it is good to have them here.
“Please no more lockdowns, let’s just get on with it.”
O’Sullivan feels that he plays better when he has a crowd to cheer him on and believes it is the same for the best sportspeople in the world.
The world No 3 slammed his ‘embarrassing’ performance despite his victory over Bingham.
“We stunk it out tonight. I was not on my own. It was poor, really poor,” he quipped.
“We looked like a couple of old club players. It was really embarrassing, sorry about that.
“We looked like butchers out there, butchering the balls and twitching all over the place. It was embarrassing.”
