Thanks to relentless paparazzi, pretty much every time a celebrity goes out for coffee, a photo of their ordinary errand ends up in a magazine. Recent photos snapped of Selma Blair out getting coffee do give the actress’ fans a reason to smile, though.
Blair, who was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2018, was all smiles in these pictures taken January 19th, 2021. A huge driving force behind that smile may just be her service dog, Scout.
Scout, who helps Blair with her mobility, gives her the confidence to go out and live her life despite her disease. Here’s to Scout for putting a smile on the Legally Blonde actress’ face!
A Service Dog Always Ready To Help His Handler
Scout officially graduated from service dog training in the fall of 2021 after a year and a half of learning. Blair announced his certification on Instagram, noting that the English Red Fox Lab “is very good at his job.”
In the post about her service dog, Blair asked that her fans respect them both while Scout works his 24/7 job.
“He is very handsome, and friendly, but if you see me and Scout, and we are working (which he really always is, as am I) then give a smile but please don’t approach. Distractions really set me back. I am building stamina and coordination with the aid of this special dog and training!”
Blair also added that she wholeheartedly trusts her service dog to keep her safe, and anyone else should too:
“If you see me down, do not worry, Scout has me covered. Literally actually.”
Selma Blair Doesn’t Stay Down
It’s been a long, arduous journey for Selma Blair in her battle with MS. Incredibly, though, Blair has been so brave and unwilling to give in.
A few years ago, Blair could hardly speak or walk. Today, she’s reportedly in remission and seeing major improvements in both her speech and movement.
Blair receives Intravenous Immunoglobulin therapy (IVIG) treatments at home, which she acknowledges is not possible for everyone. The Cruel Intentions actress also underwent a risky stem cell transplant in 2019. She credits that stem cell procedure with improving her condition.
An inside source told Ok! Magazine:
“The battle is far from over, but Selma has her life back. Her spirit really is unbreakable.”
With Scout to help her through her day-to-day challenges, Blair said she’s excited to be getting out of the house more. All her fans are thrilled too!
