Social media users were left gobsmacked after spotting a “sexist” flier for a church dance.
A snap of the 2021 pamphlet titled “first dance kit” was uploaded to Reddit and it showed six rules women must abide by at their first prom or formal ball.
And, we have to admit, it’s old-fashioned at best…
Rule one started off well enough, instructing teens to get ready, paint their nails, brush their teeth and wear a little gloss.
But, rule two took a turn, and stated: “Don’t forget what the approved dress standards are when choosing your outfit.
“You don’t want the embarrassment of being asked to go home and change.
“And you don’t want the guy dancing with you to feel uncomfortable because of the questionable outfit that you somehow justified.”
And rule three seemed to put the focus on boys rather than friends, reports Tyla.
It read: “Go with a friend but don’t be joined at the hip.
“No guy is going to interrupt the highly intense conversation that you seem to be having with your girlfriend every time he walks by you.”
Oh, yeah, because there’s definitely something wrong with having a good conversation with a mate…
While rule four said: “Never say ‘no’ to a guy who had the courage to walk over and ask you to dance in the first place (a song lasts approximately three minutes, it’s not that bad).”
Yikes!
We’re pretty sure young girls can say no to a dance with whoever they want in 2021…
And, Reddit users were flabbergasted by the rules.
“Know your standards but never say no?” one commenter questioned.
While a second added: “Girls are taught to not say no, boys get used to not hearing it, but if a woman is raped it’s her fault for being a s*** or not making her boundaries clear.
“We can’t win!”
