The iconic singer surprised an audience in France with an unscheduled performance of his latest single. The Your Song hitmaker released a collaboration with Dua Lipa on Friday.

Elton John delights holidaymakers with impromptu performance
Fans of Sir Elton John gave fans a rare treat on Saturday- as the legendary singer gave an impromptu performance of his new song with Dua Lipa to a surprised audience of holidaymakers.
The 74-year-old teamed up with Brit Award winning singer for a new cut of Cold Heart (Pnua Remix) which features nods to the iconic artist’s previous hits, including the 1972 smash-hit, Rocket Man (I Think It’s Going to Be a Long, Long Time).
With the single dropping on Friday, Sir Elton couldn’t resist a quick live performance of his latest release as he took to the DJ booth at the La Guérite restaurant in Cannes.
Much to the delight of beach-goers, the bespectacled star wowed onlookers with a quick sing along in the sun.
Going on to later share footage from the unscheduled performance to social media, the dad-of-two can be seen heading up to the sound system in a catching patterned shirt, as he asked his camera man “we’re live, well how are you gonna play it?”
Once in control of the microphone, the singer encourages the surprised audience to “dance at the table and wave your hands and your handkerchiefs” as he blasted out his latest hit.
As a crowd formed around Sir Elton, cheers could be heard from the audience as many captured the one-off event on their mobile phones.
It wasn’t just the live viewers who were impressed with the singer’s little show.
A number of fans and celebrity pals reposted the footage on their own Instagram Stories following the performance – including friend of Sir Elton and his husband David Furnish, former footballer David Beckham.

Last week, the Tiny Dancer singer paid tribute to his “beautiful friendship” with 25-year-old Dua as he promoted their duet together on social media.
“The official video for Cold Heart with @dualipa (@pnaupnau Remix) is out now,” the star wrote on his Instagram page on Friday.
“This track is the culmination of a beautiful friendship with you Dua and I’m so happy we can now share it – I hope you all love it!”
Prior to the release, the legendary star also dubbed the One Kiss singer “incredible” as he drummed up interest in their upcoming song.
“Dua, I adore you, and it has been an incredible experience making this together. I can’t wait for you all to hear it!” Sir Elton penned on Instagram as he captioned a sneak peek of the song’s music video.
The pair’s collaboration features nods to Sir Elton’s past hits, such as; Kiss the Bride, Sacrifice, Rocket Man and Where’s the Shoorah? all set to a new remix.
While this is the first official release from the two singers, it isn’t the first time the pair have worked together.

Earlier this year, Dua performed at the star’s legendary Oscars pre-party, all in aid of the Elton John AIDS Foundation.
Back in 2020, the Brit Award winning singer called up the expertises of the 74-year-old icon for her Studio 2054 livestream.
The star dubbed the multi-award winning artist a “hero” when she announced their duet on Friday.
“Elton you are my friend and my hero and I never thought i’d be able to ever say that in a sentence,” Dua told her fans on Instagram.
“Thank you for all your love and support. Grateful to make music with you in this life.”
