A woman has opened up about her incredible weight loss journey during the coronavirus pandemic.
At her heaviest, Donna Griffiths, 36, tipped the scales at 22st after spending almost £6,000 a year on Chinese and Indian meals.
The mum-of-three would enjoy six slices of toast for breakfast washed down with sugary coffee.
For lunch it was leftover lasagne and curry, while most dinners consisted of full-fat takeaways.
But now after kicking her takeaway habit, Donna, from Cardigan Bay, managed to shed an impressive 12st.
She changed her eating habits by opting for healthier, home cooked versions of her favourite takeaways.
And Donna used spice kits from online retailer Spicentice to give her meals a kick.
Now she starts her day with a healthy omelette, enjoys salads and soups for lunch and cooks up Spicentice curries in the evenings.
Donna said: “I’ve always loved food and still do but for years I made the wrong choices on what to eat and how to cook it.
“I loved takeaways and would easily order two Chinese takeaways a week and an Indian.
“I’d always go for the creamy and deep-fried option too.
“The trigger came for me after I had my third child. I’d lost weight before I had him but then piled it back on.”
She added: “I felt dreadful. Uncomfortable in my own body, lacking confidence and unable to really being active with my kids.
“I joined a local slimming group and started to look at what I was eating and how I was cooking it.
“The one thing I really missed was my takeaways. Then I found Spicentice.
“I realised I could enjoy my favourite treats in a low calorie and healthy way.
“Each kit also comes with a recipe card which includes a list of ingredients and how to cook it.”
Donna was able to control her portion sizes, while replacing high fat butter and cream with low-calorie alternatives.
Since her transformation, the mum weighs around 10st after shedding 12st.
She concluded: “Now I feel like a different woman.
“During the first lockdown we had long walks to the beach, most days hitting around 20,000 steps.
“We’re still doing that and are also enjoying our home workouts.”
