Sri Lanka private credit up for the sixth month, credit to govt flat
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s private credit expanded for the sixth month in October 2024, rising 74 billion rupees, while credit to government from banks was rose marginally after falling in the previous month, central bank data showed.
Private credit has expanded 493 billion over the past six months as economic activity continued to recover.
Credit to government from commercial banks expanded only 7 billion rupees, after falling in the past two months, as the budget deficit was contained.
