A Sunday school biology teacher has been handed a jail term for sexually abusing a teen girl from her church.
Home school teacher, Alisa Andrews, plead guilty to sexual assault charges in Bentonville, Arkansas.
Andrews confessed to police about the relationship with the teenager, 17, who had been one of her students, reports Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.
The 52-year-old taught a biology class at Rogers Christian Church to a small group of teens.
The relationship began after Andrews stopped teaching the girl and the sexual assaults lasted nine months, police said.
Detectives were tipped off by the church’s pastor after a parent alerted him to the abuse.

Andrews wrote on social media before she was arrested: “My story is filled with broken pieces, terrible choices, and ugly truths. It is also filled with a major comeback, peace in my soul and a grace that saved my life.”
According to the victim impact statement read out by deputy prosecutor Sarah Rhinehart, the victim was suicidal and in therapy.
“I know now that none of this is my fault, and I want you to know that you have no power over me any more,” the victim wrote.
“I’m no longer the broken girl I was.
“You don’t know anything about the person I am today, and you never will. I hope you know I don’t forgive you, and I hope I never do.”
Andrews was sentenced to four months in jail, followed by 10 years of probation.
She was also ordered to register as as sex offender.
