A Swedish man has been convicted for flying a drone while under the influence.
He was fined 32,000 kronor ($6,440) for operating a drone during classic car week in Rättvik, a small community northwest of Stockholm.
Karin Hellmont, the chairman of the district court that sentenced the man, explained the penalty applied was equated with driving drunk. “It’s an aircraft, even if it flies on its own. It’s controlled by someone on the ground and can fall from a great height and harm someone.”
