Spanish based GMV Innovating Solutions announced yesterday that it had been selected by Telesat to provide a next-generation satellite control systems for the Lightspeed low Earth orbit (LEO) constellation.
The company joins a growing list of suppliers for Telesat’s Lightspeed constellation.
GMV said it “will manage flight operations of the Telesat Lightspeed satellites, enabling real-time monitoring, command, and control of all satellite assets.”
GMV has provided a variety of internet and satellite technologies over its 51 years including to the the European Space Agency and now has a global presence in over a dozen countries in 11 sectors.
GMV was one of several Spanish companies to found the Spanish consortium Galileo Sistemas y Servicios, S.L. which has a 12% stake in Europe’s Galileo global navigation satellite system.
GMV said the following technologies they’ve developed will be “at the heart of this project.” Hifly their real-time telemetry and telecommand processing system, FocusSuite their flight dynamics system, and Flexplan their advances mission solution.
