Nothing says winter is here (and winter break is rapidly approaching!) quite like all our students singing their hearts out in front of their family members. It’s also a great opportunity to share inclusive winter songs so that all students and their families can enjoy the warmth and togetherness a school concert brings.

Here’s our list of songs perfect for your upcoming winter concert. Want to listen to them on shuffle from now until winter break? Check them out on our Inclusive Winter Songs Spotify playlist.

1.  Do You Want to Build a Snowman?

Parents are likely to have heard this song a million times before, but it’s still an adorable winter song perfect for young voices.

2.  White Winter Hymnal

Is there anything quite as cool as a bunch of voices singing an interesting song in a round?

3.  Hot Chocolate

This upbeat number will have family members dancing in their seats.

4.  Ocho Kandelikas

We love the tango rhythm of this Ladino language song. It describes a child’s joy as they light the candles on the menorah.

(WeAreTeachers Note: The National Association of Music Education defends the teaching and performing of sacred music when “used within an educational context as a vital and appropriate part of a comprehensive music education.” When choosing inclusive holiday songs for a winter concert, we have to pay attention to all of the numerous different holidays celebrated during the month of December.)

5.  Auld Lang Syne

Based on a poem by Scottish poet, Robert Burns, the title can be roughly translated as “a long time ago.” While what this has to do with celebrating a new year is still a little unclear, it definitely is a traditional song in the United States for remembering the good things that happened last year while looking forward to the new year ahead.

6.  Let it Snow

This song definitely has the “cozy, warm” factor down. It conjures images of getting happily stuck inside while the snow piles up outside.

7.  Winter Comes

Describing the beauty of nature as seasons change, this song definitely sets a winter mood.

 8.  Marshmallow World

Another song that will make the audience crave hot chocolate with marshmallows and whipped cream!

9.  Carol of the Bells

We admit your students would have to practice a lot to be ready to perform this song at their winter concert. But wow, would the audience be impressed!

10.  Little Snowflake

Perfect for our youngest students. We’re picturing the cuteness overload that would occur with the little dance moves that could go with this song.

11.  Cold Snap

Old Man Winter is here with a jazzy, funny song. The kids are snapping and singing about all the joys of the season – frost, snow, sore throats?

12.  Mittens and Gloves

Another fun choice for the younger students. Family members are sure to chuckle when the kids promise not to lose their mittens (Aren’t mittens and gloves really just the socks of outerwear? You somehow always end up with just one of four different pairs!)

13.  Winter Wonderland

While it’s unlikely any of us will sound as good as Michael Buble, this song is still super fun to sing.

14.  Dreidel, Dreidel, Dreidel

A winter concert classic, family members are sure to remember this fun Hanukah song.

15.  Minka

A Christmas song put to the tune of a Russian folk song, your students will have fun with the fast pace of this one!

What will your students be singing in their winter concert? Let us know in the comments below.
