THE Big Bang Theory’s Kunal Nayyar has shocked fans with his “unrecognisable” new look.
The actor looked worlds apart from his alter-ego Raj Koothrappali, who he played in the CBS sitcom from 2007 to 2019.
The 40-year-old posed for a selfie as he worked up a sweat in the gym in a Lakers snapback, grey Nike top and matching tracksuit bottoms.
But what most of his followers were shocked about was his impressive new facial hair.
Throughout his time on the much-loved show Kunal rocked a fresh face and longer hair to try and perfect the role of the shy astrophysicist.
He decided to share the selfie with his fans and asked if they’d still acknowledge if it was him out in public.
Kunal captioned the post: “Would you recognize me like this on the street?? Hehe. #moooostache #praha.”
Many flocked to the comments section to share their shock at his new look.
One wrote: “Huge fan but i don’t think I’d recognize you lol.”
A second commented: “I wouldn’t recognize you period.”
A third added: “Probably not.”
A fourth chimed in: “Nope, with the beard either, incognito.”
Meanwhile others compared him to a number of familiar faces including singer Freddie Mercury and fictional characters Mario and Luigi.
Another said: “Omg! U look like Freddie Mercury??.”
A fifth wrote: “Mario and Luigi ?.”
A sixth chimed in: “Bohemian Rhapsody 2 – Freddie Mercury strikes back.”
Kunal played his alter-ego Raj for a whopping twelve years, before the show came to an end in 2019.
Devoted fans were left heartbroken over the news, and recently Kunal’s co-star Mayim Bialik cryptically explained why it was time to move on.
She told Us Weekly: “The way that I described the show ending was there are a lot of factors that the public doesn’t get to know about, about what goes into the decisions behind why a show doesn’t continue.”
Since his stint on The Big Bang Theory, Kunal has starred in a number films.
He has landed roles in Sweetness in the Belly, Trolls World Tour, Think Like a Dog and most recently Spaceman.
The star has also worked in TV since his departure as he played Sandeep Sigh in Criminal: UK last year.
