Much of North India continues to reel under extreme cold with the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing cold wave warnings in isolated pockets of Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and J&K over the coming days. Cold wave conditions will grip parts of Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh too till the end of the week. As for Delhi, the state recorded a maximum temperature of 22.4 degrees Celsius on Wednesday which was two notches above the season’s average. On Thursday morning, a thick layer of fog enveloped parts of Delhi as the minimum temperature dropped to 7°C. The IMD has forecast a dense fog in the city. An advisory from the Delhi Airport said low visibility procedures are in progress at Delhi Airport. “All flight operations are presently normal,” the advisory read.
