That was a hot contest and he travelled well before just losing out in the closing stages.
A 3lb rise in the weights for that solid effort looks fair and he can hit the frame at a double-figure price.
PERFECT CANDIDATE (3.35 Haydock)
Fergal O’Brien continues to fire in the winners and this teenager rolled back the years when winning this race 12 months ago.
He was understandably very rusty when finishing down the field at Aintree last time but that outing will have done wonders for his fitness.
We know this trip and track are ideal and he’s a fair 5lb higher than when winning this last year and should be competitive again.
Longshot
WHO DARES WINS (2.25 Haydock)
It has been some year for trainer Alan King who has been hoovering up high-profile prizes on the Flat.
Now it’s back to the jumping game and he has a big chance with this eight-year-old who won the Queen Alexandra Stakes at Royal Ascot in June.
He goes back over hurdles for the first time in more than two years from a mark 2lb lower than his close-up third in an Aintree Grade 3.
He will have no issue getting home in the conditions and his Flat speed could be a real asset.
Aside from these, SunSport resident tipster Templegate has picked a horse in each race on Saturday.
