Longshot
JUSTFORJAMES (2.58 Catterick)
Micky Hammond’s 11-year-old has winning form over this tricky course and distance so could be a big price on comeback.
That victory came after a break, so his absence isn’t a massive worry. He was last seen finishing a good second at Sedgefield in March and some juice in the ground suits.
There’s no standout horse in the contest and Becky Smith’s 3lb allowance is another bonus.
Each-way Thief
FIGHT FOR LOVE (4.00 Chepstow)
This Irish import is interesting making his UK debut for trainer Oliver Signy. He was with Gordon Elliott until a couple of months ago and was a winner on the level at Fairyhouse.
His last run for those connections with a solid third in a big field at Tipperary when he coped well with the heavy ground.
This will be a real slog and he’s had a wind operation which can only help him get home. It would be no shock to see him hit the frame at tasty odds.
SANDRET (4.45 Newcastle)
Not all horses like Newcastle but Ben Haslam’s four-year-old has tasted success here.
He is coming nicely down the weights to the sort of mark that could see him add to his three career wins.
He didn’t get the clearest of runs when down the field here last time and will be a lot closer if getting better luck.
Aside from these, SunSport resident tipster Templegate has picked a horse in each race on Friday.
CATTERICK
12.05 Three Ways
Looked rusty on comeback and returns to favourite track here.
12.38 Magna Moralia
Two close efforts so far and fit from a spin on the Flat.
1.13 ARMATTIEKAN (NAP)
In cracking form and looks capable of improving again.
1.48 Birchdale
Classy hurdler who has more to offer over bigger obstacles.
2.23 Blakeney Point (treble)
Breathing op can work wonders in open contest.
2.58 Ask Paddy
Can make it five wins on the spin despite a long absence.
3.33 The Bomber Liston
Promise when third on debut and doesn’t need a lot more.
ASCOT
12.20 Pic D’Orhy
Top quality hurdler who can learn from his chase debut latest.
12.55 Time Flies By (nb)
Has been running well in much stronger races than this.
1.30 Metier
Good Flat horse who had plenty in hand when winning on hurdles debut.
2.05 Espoir De Guye
Will find this much easier than his Cheltenham Festival contest.
2.40 Buzz
Good run when third on comeback and can improve.
3.15 Mr Muldoon
Improved over fences last time and can take another step forward.
3.45 Certainly Red
Has been knocking on the door and won’t be far away.
CHEPSTOW
12.30 Cheng Gong
Good Flat performer who went well on hurdles debut at Ffos Las.
1.05 Antunes
Jumped well on chase debut latest and much more to come.
1.40 No No Juliet
Consistent last season and can score on debut for F O’Brien.
2.15 Cyclop
Won well over fences last time and can follow up over hurdles.
2.50 Enzo D’Airy
Can defy penalty for easy debut chase success at Stratford.
3.25 Champagnesuperover
Good second at Stratford and certain to improve.
4.00 Sexy Lot
Game winner at Ffos Las and returns from the same mark.
NEWCASTLE
4.15 Bringitonboris
Won well here last time despite missing the break.
4.45 Little Jo
Best form over this course and distance, won’t be far away.
5.15 Albert Camus
Has shown enough in maidens to strike on handicap debut.
5.45 Kratos
Promising second over course and distance on debut last time.
6.15 Fantasy Keeper
Gone up fair 3lb for convincing win here last time out.
6.45 Show Me A Sunset
Two good seconds lately and can deliver more today.
7.15 Tathmeen
Consistent over course and distance, should be on premises again.
7.45 Medicine Jack
On losing run but has been showing good signs lately.
8.15 Arcavallo
Unlucky not to win over course and distance so should go close.
