Tilney Smith and Williamson has announced the appointment of Adam Smith as a partner in its professional services business with a remit to build a new US – UK transatlantic tax team at the firm.
Smith is a dual qualified US and UK tax adviser specialising in advising US-connected individuals and businesses in cross-border US and UK tax issues.
He joins Tilney Smith and Williamson from Blick Rothenberg, where he was a partner for three years.
Tom Shave, head of London tax at Tilney Smith and Williamson, said: “We have seen growing demand in recent years from transatlantic clients seeking advice on their US – UK tax affairs and I am therefore delighted that we have been able to appoint someone of Adam’s calibre to lead our new dedicated proposition.
“Recruitment is already well advanced for experienced people to join this new team and I am excited about working with Adam to bring about rapid growth in this market.”
Smith added: “I have for a long time rated highly the technical capabilities of Smith & Williamson’s tax team and am very excited about being given the opportunity to build a new US / UK tax team here.
“The US market has grown rapidly over the last few years as more Americans understand the need for professional help in meeting the growing complexities of the US and UK tax systems. Combined with Tilney’s heritage and experience managing investments for American clients, we have an opportunity to lead the market in helping US-connected clients with their tax and wealth management affairs.”
