The first trailer for the movie adaption of the video game “Uncharted” is out, and it’s two minutes and 33 seconds of straight action.
Featuring Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg, the film take on the popular PlayStation title tells the story of the pair’s treasure-hunting travels across the earth.
“Thought I’d just leave this here,” Holland, 25, captioned the trailer, which he posted to Instagram. “Trust me when I say you ain’t ready for this movie. @markwahlberg and I are gonna take you a huge adventure. Uncharted is yours to enjoy on February 18th.”
The tale of Nathan Drake (Holland) and Sully’s (Wahlberg, 50) quest for booty alongside possible romantic interest Chloe Frazer (Sophia Ali, 25) is directed by Ruben Fleischer, with a script by “Iron Man” screenwriters Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, as well as Rafe Judkins, Variety reported.
The flick will premiere early next year “exclusively in movie theaters,” according to its ending slide.
Shooting the silver-screen take on the PlayStation game was something of an experiment in vanity which left Holland with a strange taste in his mouth, he told GQ UK.
“As soon as you start worrying about ‘Do I look good in this shot?’ acting becomes something other than playing a character. I think there are elements of my performance in ‘Uncharted’ where I kind of fell under that spell of being ‘I want to look good now. I want this to be my cool moment,’ ” Holland said in an April interview with the publication. “I had to play this very tough, very stoic guy — basically be Mark Wahlberg. My character is supposed to be a f – – king action hero in this moment!”
Having not yet seen the film at the time, he wasn’t sure if he “succeeded in that or not,” but either way he felt confident the experience had been “an important lesson learned, because, at times, it was less about land a mark and go through this scene and more about land a mark, stand like this and see my bulging biceps . . . It was a mistake and is something that I will probably never do again.”
