Opening hours: 24/7 depending on running out of milk
Address: Drenewydd Farm, Oswestry, SY11 4NB
When did you open your business and why?
We have been trading for about two weeks now.
Our reasons were that we have got lovely, fresh milk here on the farm and we wanted to get that to our community.
Our milk usually goes off to the supermarkets and by the time it gets there, it’s no longer in our community and it also doesn’t have the taste of fresh farm milk anymore.
So we wanted to be able to get the fresh product to our customers.
The supermarket process strips things out of the milk and adds certain things back in and they homogenise it.
We pasteurise our milk here on our farm but it’s unhomogenised so the cream comes to the top. It’s proper whole milk.
Why in this location?
We’ve opened here because our farm is based here.
We’re farming here and we wanted the community to be able to access our milk from here.
We live here and we’re both from this area originally. It’s a lovely, warm, friendly community and we really like being a part of it.
Tell us about your business
We’re offering fresh whole milk direct to our community.
We also have milkshake syrups that people can add to the milk. It tastes completely different when combined with the fresh milk.
Everyone is loving it so far from toddlers right through to 80-year-olds – it’s been going down a storm. It’s wonderful.
We sell the milkshake syrups with optics on the wall – it’s self-vending.
I am spending a lot of time here at the moment to show everyone how it works.
The vending machine used uses contactless payments.
Every now and again I think up some new ideas for what people can do with the milkshakes or milk and share it on our Facebook.
One of these was an ice cream sundae-type of creation, which tasted really nice.
I’m pleased with how everything has gone for us so far – the response from the community has just been amazing.
People seem thrilled that they are able to come here and purchase milk straight from the farm, and we really are thrilled to be able to supply it.
Everybody has been so positive and supportive – it’s just incredible.
The local support is amazing and the people here are just a wonderful bunch.
We’ve had customers from Oswestry, St Martin’s, Ellesmere, Gobowen, Wrexham, Shrewsbury and other areas too.
People are flooding in from everywhere which is really nice.
What is your proudest moment?
Opening the doors here and being well-received early on has been great.
It makes us feel like we are a key part of the community and supplying something that people want.
Any strange requests?
Not anything just yet, no.
