With United boss Ruben Amorim keen to bolster his options in the middle of the park, the 21-year-old has emerged as a leading candidate. Kobbie Mainoo and Casemiro are expected to leave Old Trafford in the long term, leaving a massive hole in midfield that a player of Wharton’s quality could soon fill.
