What did Trevor Noah say about Kanye and Kim?
During Tuesday’s episode (March 15th) of The Daily ShowTrevor Noah touched on various tabloid reports about Kanye West and Kim Kardashian, who have had their fair share of online exchanges in recent months.
Speaking about Kanye, Kim, and her new boyfriend Pete Davidson, the presenter said: “It started very much in the land of tabloid but I feel it’s creeping and has crept into a world that more people should pay attention to but not for the reason that you may think.”
Addressing Kim, Trevor continued: “You may not feel sorry for Kim because she’s rich and famous, because of the way she dresses, because she appropriates black culture, because she tells women they’re lazy, broke the internet and then didn’t put it back together, whatever, you hate her.
“But what she’s going through is terrifying to watch, and it shines a spotlight on what so many women go through when they choose to leave.”
Trevor was referring to Kim and Kanye’s break-up, which lead to a new relationship between Kim and Pete Davidson while also sparking a vicious feud between Kanye and Pete as the former continues to express his desire to ‘win Kim back’.

Kanye West’s ‘Koon-Baya’ Instagram post explored
In the early hours of Wednesday (March 16th), Kanye took to his Instagram profile to share a series of posts including one about Pete Davidson, comedian D.L. Hughley, and others.
In one of his posts, Kanye appeared to address Trevor’s comments. The rapper shared a screenshot of Trevor Noah’s Google result which says ‘South African comedian’ under Trevor’s name.
Many Instagram users have pointed out that Kanye captioned the picture with a variation of the African-American spiritual song Kumbaya, My Lord.
Kanye misspelled the caption with ‘koon baya’, which, as reported by TMZ below, has been viewed by some as a racial slur.
Kumbaya is an African-American spiritual and folk song “that was collected in the 1920s from the Gullah — or Geechee — people of the South Carolina and Georgia coast.”
The song’s title translates to Come by Here and was originally an appeal to God to come and help those in need.
The variation posted on Kanye’s Instagram account is being read to many as the word c**n, which is a seriously offensive racial term that is directly linked to slavery, segregation and dehumanization.
Trevor Noah responds with worry while laughing off Kanye’s pun
Trevor Noah responded in the Instagram comments with a lengthy comment, which you can read below:
Damn, here we go again, everybody sayin’ what’s not for him….
There are few artists who have had more of an impact on me than you Ye. You took samples and turned them into symphonies. You took your pain and through the wire turned it into performance perfection. I thought differently about how I spend my money because of you, I learned to protect my child-like creativity from grown thoughts because of you, sh*t I still smile every time I put on my seatbelt because of you.
You were a serious rapper who also knew when not to take himself seriously. You effortlessly brought comedy into music and made us all smile while we rapped along.
You’re an indelible part of my life Ye. Which is why it breaks my heart to see you like this. I don’t care if you support Trump and I don’t care if you roast Pete. I do however care when I see you on a path that’s dangerously close to peril and pain.
You have every right to fight for your family. But you have to know the difference between that and fighting your family. I’ve woken up too many times and read headlines about men who’ve killed their exes, their kids and then themselves. I never want to read that headline about you.❤️🙏🏽
If you’re just joking about it all and I’m an idiot for caring, then so be it. But I’d rather be the idiot who spoke up and said something to you in life, than the cool guy who said nothing and then mourns for you in prison or the grave.
Oh and as for Koon…clearly some people graduate but we still stupid. Don’t ever forget, the biggest trick racists ever played on black people was teaching us to strip each other of our blackness whenever we disagree. Tricking us into dividing ourselves up into splinters so that we would never unite into a powerful rod. ✊🏽
(I can’t front though, Koon Baya is also funny as sh*t 😂🤣😂)
Look after yourself my brother. Hopefully one day we’ll all be laughing about this situation and how it all ended with peace and love.
