A MAN is in custody after he allegedly ran over two people during a Pride march in Florida on Saturday, according to local reports.
The horrifying incident unfolded during the Stonewall Pride in Wilton Manors at around 6pm local time this evening.
According to City Commissioner Chris Caputo, the two victims were run over by a man in a pick-up truck at the beginning of the parade.
“He had pride flags on his truck and so its unclear if it was intentional,” Caputo reported. “Our hearts are breaking.”
The conditions of the two victims are not known at this time.
Video posted to social media showed a man being taken into custody that various witnesses claimed to be the driver of the truck.
Speaking to local media, Mayor Dena Trantalis said he was merely yards away when the white pickup truck “dashed right through the crowd.”
He said he believed the incident was “premeditated” and characterized it as a “terrorist attack against the LGBT community.”
