NORTH Shropshire MP Owen Paterson says he and his family are proud to have launched a website for a new trust focusing on suicide prevention.
The website for the Rose Paterson Trust has been set up ahead of its official launch at Aintree Racecourse next weekend.
It has been set up in memory of Owen’s late wife, who took her own life last year.
Mr Paterson hopes the trust can work to prevent suicide and help those affected by it.
He posted on Twitter: “My family and I are proud to launch the website for The Rose Paterson Trust.
“[We are] looking forward to the formal launch on April 10 at Aintree Racecourse.
“If we can help save just one family from the agony of suicide, this initiative will have been worth it.”
Mrs Paterson was chairman of the Liverpool-based racecourse, and will be remembered at the upcoming event on Grand National weekend.
An extract on the website describes her as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and sister.
It reads: “The Rose Paterson Trust has been founded in honour of Rose, who took her own life in June 2020.
“Her death has made the world an infinitely worse place, but perhaps through our work, her story can be a source of inspiration and hope one day.
“She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and sister, among many other things. She was kind and gentle.
“Animals were instinctively drawn to her. She was charming and beautiful. She was amazingly well-read. She was loved.”
