Two men have been accused of conspiring to import drugs after border officials seized a five kilograms haul of cocaine hidden in boxes of protein powder.
Workers at the London Gateway Parcel Hub seized £400,000 worth of cocaine concealed inside whey protein containers in January.
Jack Bertram Fallon, 31, and Arron James Collins, 34, were arrested on Friday in connection with the seizure before appearing at Worle Magistrates’ Court on Saturday morning charged with conspiracy to import class A drugs.
Fallon, of Olveston, Bristol, and Collins, of Withywood, Bristol, were remanded in custody and are due to appear at Bristol Crown Court on November 23, the National Crime Agency (NCA) said.
Fallon is also accused of failure to comply with an order to provide officers with access to his phone; Collins is also accused of possessing an extreme pornographic image.
The NCA said the pair were charged as part of an investigation into alleged drug smuggling.
The arrests were made by the NCA as part of Operation Venetic, an investigation into the EncroChat encrypted messaging platform.
A third man, 33, who was arrested in September in connection with the seizure has been released under investigation.
