Two deadly crashes occurred in Lavaca County Monday morning.
LAVACA COUNTY, Texas – A man was killed Monday morning on Highway 77 near Hallettsville Airport, according to Lt. Vaccaro of the Hallettsville Police Department.
A 2011 black motorcycle was traveling northbound on Highway 77 coming from Victoria to Hallettsville when the motorcycle hit a F-350 truck pulling livestock, said Lt. Vaccaro.
The truck had slowed into a private driveway at the airport. Lt. Vaccaro confirmed the driver of the truck did not see the motorcycle.
“It was very foggy this morning,” said Lt. Vaccaro.
The motorcyclist was identified as 30-year-old Bryan Baumann of Victoria.
Baumann was pronounced dead at the scene.
Lt. Vaccaro said the cause of the crash was due to fog. No arrests or citations were issued.
A second deadly crash occurred in Shiner Monday morning.
A man was killed in a one-vehicle crash on FM 531 in Shiner.
The driver is identified as Kevin Nat Ramos of New Braunfels.
Sgt. Ruben San Miguel with the Texas Department of Public Safety said the man was the only person in the truck at the time of the crash.
The man was taken to Lavaca Community Hospital where he died from his injuries.
This is still an ongoing investigation.
