An award-winning Queensland mansion owned by a hemp tycoon is being rented for an eye-watering $80,000 a week this Christmas, making it one of the most expensive rentals in the country.
The weekly rent on the Noosa mansion about the same as the average annual Aussie wage.
Evgeny Skigin owns the uber-luxurious home known as ‘Domic’, which was built in 2019 into sand dunes on Seaview Terrace in Sunshine Beach at a reported cost of $21 million.

Niche Luxury Accommodation managing director Sue Willis, who is marketing the $12,570 a night listing, said she had already taken three bookings for the property over the Christmas period – all worth more than $130,000.
Ms Willis declined to reveal who the deep pocketed tenants were, but it’s understood one is a Sydney financier and another is a property developer from Melbourne.

She has also been approached by Hollywood movie executives inquiring about leasing the home for their stars while filming in Queensland.
“They are largely very, very wealthy Australians who would normally spend that kind of money overseas, but are literally saying to their agents; ‘find us something that parallels a superyacht on the Mediterranean’,” Ms Willis said.

“One is a VIP coming from overseas in late January, who will isolate and then go there, but I don’t know who that is.
“They’re the kind of people who would normally drop $50,000 a night on a superyacht. To us, it’s ridiculous, but to them, $100,000 a week is nothing.”

The eco-friendly lair is a three-level, concrete domed building with a whopping 1400 sqm of living space camouflaged under a green canopy, with solar panels, batteries, water storage and a greywater system.
The home – which costs the same as an average yearly Australian wage to rent for the week – spans four levels, has six bedrooms, 10 bathrooms and seven car parks.
It is perched on almost 1ha of land on the edge of Noosa National Park, offering breathtaking ocean views.

There’s also a 25m pool, day spa, gymnasium, fire pit, cinema room, and even a conference and events room.
“The house’s biggest asset is its privacy,” Ms Willis said.
“What you get is one of the most incredible houses you could ever stay in and incredible privacy.”

Ms Willis said she had employed two more staff since taking on the listing to cope with the level of inquiry.
“From an economic recovery perspective, that’s the kind of money that normally go offshore, so if we can keep that in Australia, that’s incredible,” she said.

“The house will come with staff, private chefs, nannies, so that will create jobs as well.
“Queensland is now coming of age. We are offering global quality service and accommodation.”
The property at 71 Seaview Tce was designed by Brisbane-based architect Noel Robinson for Mr Skigin, and took three years to build.
Mr Skigin’s industrial hemp business is one of the leading providers of the usable fibre in the world.
Before COVID-19 hit, his calendar was balanced between three quarters of the year in Switzerland and one quarter on the Sunshine Coast.
It is one of the country’s most expensive rentals, with Mandalay House in Airlie Beach still pipping it at around $15,000 a night.
