Tyson Fury’s 11th-round knockout over Deontay Wilder has been branded as the most “magnificent” in Bob Arum’s 57 years of promoting fights.
Arum has promoted the likes of Muhammad Ali, Sugar Ray Leonard, Evander Holyfield, George Foreman, Oscar De La Hoya, Julio Cesar Chavez and Manny Pacquiao, but rated the 11-round trilogy between two of the world’s top heavyweights as the best he’s ever seen.
“I’ve been in this business 57 years promoting fights and I have to say I’ve truly never seen a heavyweight fight as magnificent as this,” he said after the fight.
“I’m so proud of the man on my right. He showed heart, ability… he is truly a fighting man.”

Fury admitted he was “humbled” by his promoter’s words and admitted the fight could have gone either way after both men were knocked down early on in the fight.
“I’m humbled by Bob’s words,” he said. “I’ve not had a chance to look at the fight yet but I anticipate it was a good fight, we were both down a few times and it was edge of your seat stuff.
“It could have swung either way. But when it comes down to it, when I have to pull the chips out, every time I’ve delivered. I’ve beaten him three times in a row and I’ve never let anyone down. I gave 100 per cent tonight.”
