Kamaru Usman has been called out by Conor McGregor and Colby Covington as Dana White maps out the champion’s next move.
After Usman beat Gilbert Burns in February, he personally asked White to rematch Jorge Masvidal, who he already beat last July.
But after Masvidal was emphatically knocked out, the UFC president named Covington as the No1 contender.
White said: “The clear cut guy right now is Colby.
“We’ll see how all these other things play out for the next contender, but there’s no doubt that Colby Covington is the next guy.”
Covington, 33, was stopped by Usman, also 33, in December 2019, but contested the stoppage as early.
He has since switched trainers and returned with a win in September against Tyron Woodley, 39, the man Usman dethroned of the title.
