Gillian Robertson Vs Poliana Botelho was the second last fight on the preliminary card. The flyweight bout between ‘The Savage’ and Botelho was touted to be one of the most exciting fights, in a stacked card at UFC Fight Night Ortega Vs Jung. The event is the second last event in the UFC’s second stint at Fight Island in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
The UFC’s women’s flyweight division is one of the most stacked divisions with an extremely dominant champion in Valentina Shevchenko at the helm. Fifteenth ranked Robertson and an unranked Botelho were given a good opportunity to climb up the ladder in the rankings with a win over a tough adversary.

The flyweight bout got off to an exciting start with both women looking extremely good. In the first round, The Canadian fighter used her wrestling to her advantage and landed a takedown. She secured a takedown in rounds two and three as well. Gillian landed a devastating 48 ground strikes over the course of the fight.

‘The Savage’ had dominated the fight on the feet as well and land an impressive 104 total strikes with 65% accuracy. Robertson also landed a devastating 57 significant strikes at an accuracy of 58%. Her work on the feet along with crucial takedowns was enough to secure a unanimous decision win over Poliana.
With a win over Botelho, Robertson has the most wins in the UFC women’s flyweight division. ‘The Savage’ made her debut in the UFC with a win on The Ultimate Fighter season 26 over Emily Whitmire. Since then she has secured wins against of Molly McCann, Veronica Macedo, Sarah Frota, Cortney Casey, and most recently Botelho.
Gillian is now on a two-fight win streak, which will definitely see her climb up in the rankings at flyweight. If she is able to keep up this level of performance, it won’t be long before fans see her fight a top-ranked opponent.
