Parys, 37, was a nine-year NFL veteran. He played in 118 games (88 starts) and accrued an impressive 380 tackles, 28 sacks, five fumble recoveries, and five defended passes.
Originally drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the 2006 NFL draft, he played in 86 games (68 starts) for the team and tallied 295 tackles and 21.5 sacks.
Parys, who attended Madison Central High School in Madison, Mississippi, went to the University of Tennessee. His university days marked the beginning of his NFL career.
The linebacker also played two seasons with the Saints in 2013 and 2014 and totalled 85 tackles, 6.5 sacks.
