The individual in the video, Lazar, a Serbian youth who arrived in India eight years ago to study yoga and psychotherapy, took it upon himself to clean the streets of Gurugram. His actions sparked widespread attention and inspired many others in the area to follow suit. Now, Lazar and his supporters are focused on promoting cleanliness and encouraging others to maintain their surroundings.
Lazar told PTI, “India is an amazing place, one of the most beautiful places that I have seen on the planet, the only thing is we need to take our responsibility when it comes to outside our house, we need to do our part, and maintain this beautiful land clean. I am not inviting people to go around India and clean, I’m just saying keep two meters outside your home clean…”
Public outcry leads to action from MCG after viral post
Anuradha Tiwari, a resident of Delhi, recently shared a photo of a littered area in Gurugram on X (formerly Twitter). In her post, she expressed frustration over the city’s garbage issue, writing, “I’m looking for volunteers in Gurgaon to help me pick up this kind of garbage and dump it right in front of the ministers’ bungalows. Who’s interested?”
Her message resonated with many users, with some even offering to contribute in practical ways. One user suggested bringing a JCB machine to help clean up, asking where it should be sent. Many others voiced their support, urging the authorities to take prompt action. The post quickly gained traction and amplified public pressure for a solution. MCG responds with same-day clean-up
In response to the viral post, the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) took swift action. Within hours, they organized a clean-up of the area and later shared a photo of the cleaned spot on social media.
The MCG issued an official statement on X, which read, “Respected Citizen, the task of regular garbage collection from this location is being carried out by #TeamMCG. Thank you.”
