WATCH: Warriors Coach Steve Kerr Stops Stephen Curry From Breaking Klay Thompson’s Three-Point Record

The Golden State Warriors had a statement win tonight. They blew out the Oklahoma City Thunder by 38 points after a marvelous display by their star Stephen Curry. He broke a few minor records during this performance but could have had more.

Curry played just 29 minutes, but within that limited time, he had a mammoth 42 points. He shot 14-20 from the field, and 11 of those were just three-pointers. He had a whole quarter left to surpass the record set by his teammate Klay Thompson, who had 14 against the Bulls in 2018.

As the fourth quarter was about to start, Curry was eager to enter the game and break some records. His previous highest was 13, and he knew he was in the groove to beat that.

However, coach Steve Kerr had other plans. With the Warriors already leading by 30 points, he refused to allow Curry to enter the game to break the record.

While the two of them laughed about it when it happened, Curry might have thought it was the perfect opportunity for such an achievement. But coach Kerr insisted since such situations are when the lower rotational players actually get to play. So, he couldn’t deny them the opportunity.

Stephen Curry: Living legend

In their last game against the Nuggets, Curry had 10 threes as he led the Warriors to an upset win. And now, just two days later, Curry has followed that up with another game with 10+ threes. There is no doubt he is the greatest shooter of all time, but it seems like Curry likes to remind everyone about it often. And no one is complaining.

This is also the second time he has had back-to-back games with 10+ threes in a single game. James Harden is the only other player in the NBA to also do it, but Curry is the only one who has done it twice now.

Tonight was a sensational performance, and it proves how much he is doing by himself to keep the Warriors in the playoff race. They are currently in the ninth spot and are aiming to at least make the play-in tournament.

It has been a tough season for them without Klay Thompson, but thanks to Curry, they are not out of the race yet.
