Western Australia will strengthen its border with Queensland and South Australia from Friday, 6pm.
The two states will be reclassified as ‘extreme risk’ as local COVID-19 cases surge in those areas.
Travel from Queensland or South Australia to WA will not be permitted from 6pm on New Year’s Eve unless an exemption is authorised.
Approved travellers must be fully vaccinated and undertake 14 days of hotel quarantine at their own expense on their arrival.
