Human remains were found on Friday, June 18 in a secluded area in Wharton County.
WHARTON COUNTY, Texas – Authorities are still trying to identify a young girl after her remains were found on Friday, June 18, according to the Wharton County Sheriff’s Office.

The victim’s remains were found in a secluded area off of County Road 225 in Wharton County.
The Sheriff’s Office confirmed the girl’s death is now being investigated as a homicide.
According to a news release, an autopsy was completed and the Chief Medical Examiner estimates that the remains are of a young girl between the ages 14 to 17 years.
The girl was discovered wearing a t-shirt with the word “Ohana,” shorts with images of donuts and a jacket.
Authorities released an image of a similar jacket the victim was wearing when found.
Images of jewelry the victim was wearing was also released.
The race of the victim is not known at this time.
