Corral was playing in the Sugar Bowl – the one of a series of college Championship games – with others including the Rose Bowl.
His University of Mississippi team were facing the Baylor Bears from Texas.

Corral was injured in the first quarter of the game, suffering the blow to his right leg.
He was sacked, and immediately signalled that something was amiss.
Corral was taken back to the changing rooms, where an x-ray proved negative.
He did return pitch-side after the blow, but was on crutches.
