What is Britney Spears’ net worth?
- Britney is worth approximately $60 million.
She is one of the biggest pop stars the world has seen. The Mississippi native became a pop culture icon with her 1999 hit Baby One More Time, which she followed up with her 2000’s Ooops! I Did It Again.
The Criminal singer has sold over 100 million records worldwide. During the early 2000s, when Britney was at the top of her game, she was one of the highest-paid entertainers in the world.
In 2002 alone she reportedly earned $40 million from touring and record sales. Following that her Las Vegas Residency gig earned her another $137.7 million. The star reportedly earned $350-$500 thousand per night performing at a Las Vegas residency between 2013 and 2017.
Aside from her popular albums, songs and tours, Britney’s income skyrocketed when she became a judge on The X Factor. She was reportedly awarded a salary of $15 million. She was the highest-paid judge on a singing competition in television history at the time.

Singer’s conservatorship case explored
For the uninitiated, a conservatorship is an arrangement made by the court for individuals who are unable to make their own decisions. Generally, these individuals are de-capacitated from making sound judgement due to dementia or other mental illnesses.
In 2008, a similar arrangement was made by the court for Britney with her ownership of her wealth and many of her decisions being handed to her father James. The decision came after the star’s public mental health crisis.
Court documents secured by the New York Times reveal that the Mississippi native’s conservatorship was split into two parts – one is for her estate and the other her financial affairs. Under the legal agreement, her dad James was handed the control on both.
He remained in control until 2019 when he had to step down because of health reasons. This is when a professional named Jodi Montgomery stepped in and replaced him on a temporary basis.
However, Britney requested that the arrangement be made permanent. The star has indicated through her lawyers that she no longer wishes to let her father be in control.
During a 2020, court hearing, a judge declined to remove her dad brought in another financial firm, the Bessemer Trust as a co-conservator of her estate. However, James’ control was extended till September 2021.
In her Wednesday hearing, Britney is set to address “the court directly” about her conservatorship directly.
Fans trend #FreeBritney ahead of court appearance
Although it’s been popularised recently #FreeBritney dates back to 2009. A New York Times report, states that it was coined on a fan site that disagreed with the conservatorship agreement.
However, the campaign was renewed in 2019. The campaigners regularly demonstrate outside court hearings in the conservatorship case.
Ahead of her court hearing, many fans have used the hashtag to express support for the “Princess of Pop.”
Referring to the recent NOW article one fan wrote, “Britney Spears was forced to rehearse with a 104 fever. This conservatorship never had anything to do with her health or wellness. This is state-sanctioned human trafficking. #FreeBritney.
Another fan wrote, “I wish Britney manages to escape what MJ didn’t. I still can’t forget the call he gave her in 2008 warning her and telling her to retire.”
