Actor sues ‘Olympus Has Fallen’ makers for $10 million
Gerard’s lawsuit comes a day after Scarlett Johansson filed a compensation lawsuit against the Walt Disney Co.
Butler’s lawsuit alleges that the makers of Olympus Has Fallen earned tens of millions of dollars from the film, but refused to pay him a penny of the grosses despite the agreement between all parties. The actor also accused the makers of misrepresenting the film’s net profits. It further states: “Butler worked with Defendants to create a highly successful movie franchise. He demands his fair share.”
Gerard claimed that the makers had understated the film’s domestic gross by $17.5 million, as well as kept another $8 million for their executives.
The contract reportedly entitled him to 10% of net profits, in addition to 6% of domestic adjusted gross receipts above $70 million. The agreement also entitled the actor a 12% share of foreign adjusted gross receipts above $35 million.
