London’s Remembrance Day Parade
Each year, Britain remembers those who lost their lives during war times with commemorative events on and around Remembrance Day, the second Sunday in November.
As the capital and largest city of England and the United Kingdom, London uphold various annual traditions surrounding the date.
On Remembrance Sunday 2021 (falling on the 14 November) a service and parade will take place at 11 am at the Cenotaph, a war memorial on Whitehall in London.
The service will be observed by the Queen in her first public appearance since taking a three-week break due to health concerns, according to iNews.
Politicians and military representatives are also due to attend whereby a two-minute silence will begin the service.
What is the 2021 parade route?
As previously mentioned, the Remembrance Sunday service takes place at the Cenotaph on Whitehall in London’s City of Westminster.
iNews reports that the war memorial was once a temporary structure made of wood and plaster, created to be a saluting base during the First World War victory parade that took place on 19 July 1919.
Ahead of the 2021 service, at 9 am, Royal British Legion detachments form up on Horse Guards Parade and in Whitehall.
Changing Guard reports that all detachments march out from Wellington Barracks at 10 am to make their way to the Cenotaph for a 10.30 am arrival.

11 am sees the two minutes silence begin, marked by the firing of a Gun by Kings Troop, on Horse Guards Parade. The Cenotaph Service then commences.
The military veterans then march past the monument following the service at around 11.25 am and the Cenotaph Service concludes.
The parade and commemorations in London may result in road closures. Head over to the Transport for London website to find the latest travel news.
How to watch the Remembrance event
While Whitehall will be open to the public as of 8 am on Remembrance Sunday, people are reportedly advised that space at the commemoration is limited.
Changing Guard advises attendees to not bring suitcases or large bags as there will be police security procedures in place.
This public event requires no tickets or passes and people are welcome to watch the ceremony along Whitehall and Parliament Street.
However, entry may be limited if the space fills up but there will also be various video screens located north of the Cenotaph, near the green outside the main Ministry of Defence building and outside the Scotland Office.
Alternatively, you can watch the service live on BBC One (or online through BBC iPlayer), with coverage beginning at 10.15 am.
