What is the meaning of Visiting Hours?
A new album announcement wasn’t the only thing that Sheeran released to fans – he also premiered a new song, Visiting Hours.
NME reports that the song, which is now released, is not the album’s new single but is a cut from the upcoming album.
Played on an acoustic guitar, Visiting Hours‘ lyrics are sentimental and tear-jerking, likened to that of Sheeran’s song Supermarket Flowers. So, what is the meaning of the latest track?
As per NME, accompanying press material reveals that Visiting Hours is about Sheeran grieving with the loss of friend and mentor, Michael Gudinski.
Gudinski sadly passed away in March of this year aged 68. The Mushroom Records owner reportedly died in his sleep at his Melbourne home.

I see it as my coming-of-age record, and I can’t wait to share this next chapter with you.”
