What is the Merry Christmas Adam meme?
While there are many Merry Christmas Adam memes now, the original version was a Tumblr thread, where a user is seen questioning, “Christmas eve what about Christmas adam.”
Another line under it reads, “happy Christmas adam to all men’s rights activists.”
The third comment under it reads, “Please stop pestering us with things like this. This has nothing to do with men fighting for their rights. Eve is short for ‘evening’. Please don’t turn activism into a joke. Thanks.”
A fourth comment hilariously reads, “Someone isn’t having a good Christmas Adam.”
Over the years, Christmas Adam has become a colloquial term for December 23rd, which is a day before Christmas Eve. It is more of an online slang.
The slang is based on users misconstruing Christmas Eve as a day dedicated to ‘Eve’ from the creation story, ‘Adam and Eve’, rather than a short form for the word, evening.

Twitter reacts to Christmas Adam memes
While some Twitter users were confused as to what Christmas Adam means, others were humoured by it.
The Christmas Eve Eve meme that started it all
It was Phoebe from Friends who gifted the internet with the Christmas Eve Eve meme that resurrects every year around the festive period.
All Friends fans have loved Phoebe’s play on words. She said this one during season 2, episode 9 titled ‘The One with Phoebe’s Dad.’
The episode description reads: “Phoebe finds out that her picture of her father, whom she has never known, is just a generic photograph that comes with the picture frame. Elsewhere, after Ross makes Monica’s heater malfunction, her Christmas party guests swelter in the middle of winter.”
In the episode, Phoebe visits the rest of the group in Central Perk and greets everyone saying, “Merry Christmas Eve Eve.’ Little did the Friends writer know that years later, it would become one of the most famous pop culture references.
